LONDON — Kinesys, based here, announced two major sales and technical partnerships in Asia. Taipei, Taiwan-based Aurora bought an Elevation 1+ system for use with their CM Varistar hoists and beam trolleys. They also have Kinesys Rigger Remote handsets for local control of the Elevations and a Kinesys Array PD-ES for power distribution. Colour of Light, based in Seoul, South Korea, purchased 24 channels of Elevation 1+ drives with Kinesys Libra load cell integration and monitoring using the LibraCELL and LibraPRO products.
More details from Kinesys (www.kinesys.co.uk):
The growth in popularity of the brand in Europe is starting to spread further afield as more and more entertainment-based companies are seeing the benefits of using Kinesys’ highly flexible and robust solutions for their work. The Kinesys brand is also appearing with increasing regularity of product specifications for all types of live events.
With the sales to these two key strategic countries, it is expected that there will also be a growth in demand for Kinesys products on the Chinese mainland.
Aurora based in Taipei, Taiwan, bought an Elevation 1+ system that is being used in conjunction with their CM Varistar hoists as well as with beam trolleys. They also have Kinesys Rigger Remote handsets for local control of the Elevations and a Kinesys Array PD-ES for power distribution.
Aurora made the purchase after working with a Kinesys system on an event celebrating the first all-Chinese manufactured Volkswagen Golf 7 vehicles at the end of 2013, which featured a 36-way Kinesys Elevation 1+ automation system with K2 control being used to lift a 70 metre wide LED screen weighing over 30 tonnes!
This impressed Aurora’s Production Managers Jez Fang and Philly Chen, who then recommended that Aurora purchase a system of their own.
Aurora was founded in 2002 and is a go-ahead rental and design company supplying lighting, sound and video equipment to numerous shows and events, with a large domestic and international client base.
The Colour of Light, a design practice and installation consulting firm specializing in the performing arts, is headquartered in Seoul. They purchased 24 channels of Elevation 1+ drives with Kinesys Libra load cell integration and monitoring using the LibraCELL and LibraPRO products.
Colour of Light deals with theatre installations and specifications throughout Asia and worldwide and their clients include local governments, schools and cultural and arts organizations.
Central to their philosophy is maximizing the potential for creating excitement and exhilaration via performances onstage, and they are well aware that having Kinesys technology available to enhance a show in any environment opens up a whole new range of possibilities.
Kinesys’ MD Dave Weatherhead comments, “It’s fantastic to see our products being used for increasingly diverse applications around the globe. People are realizing that versatile and safe automation can be very cost effective for the additional scope and potential it brings to any event / show or performance space.”

As a photonics entrepreneur for more than three decades, and co-founder and former chairman of the Laser Illuminated Projector Association (LIPA), Bill brings in-depth knowledge of laser technology and the specific requirements for its application.
More details from Barco (www.barco.com)
As the worldwide market share leader in digital cinema projection, Barco continues to make bold strides forward in the development and deployment of its laser projection technologies worldwide, with dozens of installations committed for 2014. As it embarks upon its next phase of commercial sales and laser market development, Barco has engaged Bill Beck to work closely with its Sales and R&D teams to further expand its reach into global markets.
“Bill was one of the first to recognize the potential of laser illumination for premium digital cinema. We simply call him ‘The Laser Guy’,” comments Todd Hoddick, Vice President of Global Entertainment for Barco. “For more than 10 years, he has been on the leading edge of laser technology and focused his efforts on the image quality and operating benefits of laser illumination for cinema exhibition and other high-performance projection applications.
Bringing extensive expertise to the Barco team
Beck will work closely with Barco to further advance its leadership in laser-illuminated projection. As a photonics entrepreneur for more than three decades, and co-founder and former chairman of the Laser Illuminated Projector Association (LIPA), Bill brings in-depth knowledge of laser technology and the specific requirements for its application.
Extending Barco’s market and technology leadership
“Since its first demos in 2012, Barco has been the frontrunner in laser projection, establishing an early lead in laser illumination technology,” comments Beck. “I’m excited about the opportunity to contribute my expertise toward evolving Barco’s laser technology to the next stage, while helping to strengthen its sales and marketing infrastructure to support further growth. Our new collaboration reflects a shared vision focused on achieving not only the best image quality, but also a commercially attractive laser projector that ensures safety, reliability, energy efficiency and a long lifetime. Leveraging the long-term potential of laser
“High-brightness laser projection is still in its early stages,” continued Beck. “By collaborating with Barco’s R&D team, I will help the company leverage the long-term potential of laser technology, which offers dramatically reduced operating and maintenance costs, as well as lower power consumption, as the technology matures. But most of all, I am excited about the opportunity to play a pivotal role in developing the future products and applications that laser technology will enable.”
