The Theatre World Awards were first presented in 1945, making them among the oldest awards—and highest honors—given to actors on the New York stage.
Recognizing outstanding Broadway and Off-Broadway debuts, the 2018 Theatre World Awards continued the tradition of singling out performers who surely have bright futures ahead of them. Among the honorees were Tony Award contenders Ethan Slater (“SpongeBob SquarePants”), Noma Dumezweni and Anthony Boyle (“Harry Potter and the Cursed Child”), Denise Gough (“Angels in America”), Harry Hadden-Paton (“My Fair Lady”), Hailey Kilgore (“Once on This Island”), and Lauren Ridloff (“Children of a Lesser God”).
As was recently announced, Theatre World Award alum Victor Garber, who graced the stage this season in “Hello, Dolly!”, will receive the 6th annual John Willis Award for Lifetime Achievement In The Theatre. Garber is celebrating his 46th year on Broadway.
The 74th annual Theatre World Awards ceremony, hosted by Peter Filichia, will take place June 4 at Circle in the Square Theatre—on the set of the Tony-nominated revival of “Once on This Island.” For more information, visit
