Though it’s not currently pilot season per se, Fox has gone ahead and picked up “Cool Kids,” a multi-camera comedy from “It’s Always Sunny In Philadelphia” trio Charlie Day, Rob McElhenney, and Glenn Howerton. Production will take place in Los Angeles.
Industry vet Kevin Abbot (“Last Man Standing,” “Reba”) has signed on as showrunner for the series, which is set in a retirement community whose three alpha males see their status upended with the arrival of a new female rebel.
Wendy O’Brien will be casting the project, from 20th Century Fox TV in association with FX Prods. No casting announcements have been made at this time.
Day, McElhenney, Howerton, Abbot, and Nick Frenkel will all executive produce. The pilot itself was penned by Day along with Paul Fruchbom. We’ll be sure to keep you posted on the project’s developments as they occur.
